So I've been listening to Straylight Run nonstop and singing out of key with every song. Here's a very interesting article on the band. It's very sad but so much of this is true.
From Long Island Press: Running FreeTo trace John's own personal growth curve, which ultimately impacted his decision to leave TBS (Taking Back Sunday) and form Straylight Run, it's necessary to travel back several years prior to his joining TBS, when he was still a teenager. As the children of a pastor, the Nolans grew up in a devout Christian household and were active members of the church. But in his teenage years, after going through a very painful breakup with a longtime girlfriend, John came to realize that the support he desperately needed wasn't available through his religion.
"Around that time I really started to become very disillusioned I guess, or just started to feel like a lot of the people that I saw that called themselves religious or called themselves Christians could behave in very cold, uncaring and kind of hypocritical ways," John explains. "I was going through a lot of stuff and was kind of looking for something, someone to be there for me, and wasn't finding it at all, and actually finding the complete opposite in the church atmosphere, of feeling more pushed away and more shunned by having problems and going through a difficult time."
Conclusion: Girls ruin everything.
